Hard Wearing & Low Maintenance
Follow these guidelines to help ensure your Knotwood products keep looking new.
Keeping Knotwood Clean
Should you choose to paint the exterior of your house, make sure to clean away any paint splashes immediately and should be removed with fresh water. Paint splashes could mar the appearance of your Knotwood product. Utilizing solvents to clean away paint or other imperfections may risk further damage. You may use White Spirits to clean away paint splashes as long as product surfaces are thoroughly washed using a soft brush and mild pH neutral detergent. After, thoroughly rinse the area with fresh water. Please test your solvent on a small, unnoticeable powder coated location on your product before use.
It is important to avoid strong and abrasive household cleaners or solvents when cleaning your Knotwood products. Cleaners and solvents typically recommended for thinning paints like MEK or paint thinners, are harmful to powder coating. Using these cleaning products should be avoided in all circumstances. Additionally, acidic, alkaline, and/or alcohol based cleaning products are not recommended for use and could result in similar damage to the powder coating.
Hard Wearing & Durable | Scratch and Stain Resistant
Knotwood is pre-finished in a long lasting electrostatically applied powder coating and process known as sublimation. Painstaking preparation, precise workmanship, and the latest innovative technology combine to create the powder coat of Knotwood. This is one of the most durable color coatings available and offers extensive value and longevity with low maintenance and effort required. Provided that our recommended care is followed, Knotwood powder coatings are maintainable for an indefinite period of time in normal environmental conditions.
How To Guide
To keep your powder coated aluminum looking new, each surface will need a full wash - not just the sheltered areas that do not see exposure to rain. A regular wash will keep your Knotwood finish fresh and in great condition. To ensure substances like airborne salts, dirt, and pollutants detrimental to the long term performance of Knotwood’s powder coat are removed, you should scrub your product with a soft brush using a mild pH neutral detergent and a thorough rinsing with fresh water. In rural or normal urban environments, where the atmosphere is deemed non-hazardous, cleaning should take place every twelve (12) months. In high pollution areas, like industrial sectors, geothermal environments, or coastal environments, cleaning should be increased to every three (3) months. Monthly cleaning should take place in hazardous locations, such as beachfront properties, severe marine environments, and/or areas of high industrial pollution.
Wash the surface of your Knotwood products with a mild solution of pure soap or mild, non-abrasive kitchen detergent in warm water.
Apply the cleaning solution with a sponge, soft cloth, or soft bristle nylon brush in a general manner to avoid shiny spots.
If cared for as described, your Knotwood product should provide a fresh, new look for many years.
